BNTS

BNTS stands for Basic NCO Training School, its a place where people are trained to become NCOs(the elite of the BB companies). It is a tough, strict and may seems to be a torture chamber to some boys (this is in fact just some mental exercise). Detailed information about the camp is not to be leaked to make the trainings more effective and interesting.

Anyway, I attended the camp last year and this year I returned as a Helper. My job is simply "to help". Well, think of all the necessities of a camp of approximate 100 people on the shoulders of eight boys and you will get the idea. It's not that bad, for instant we did not have to cook since the food is cooked and sent to us by church members. But, I must say it wasn't a piece of cake at all. If the boys were mentally stress, we would be physically exhausted. However, the life at camp is always interesting. We get to sleep in tents this time because Helpers were not given the luxury to have a classroom. I shared a tent with L/cpl Christopher and the mosquitoes, guess the little pests must had slipped in when we entered. Another interesting thing is that we were not allowed to use the school canteen for the owner had to pay the electric and water bill himself. This results in moving several long wooden bench and tables from the canteen to a open-air hall. This is where the trainees will have their lunch and and they will never find having lunch more "torturing". I remember last time when I had to hold back my tears because of this. Once again I cannot tell you why. But I must assure you that it is not anything like eating hot red charcoal or drinking corrosive liquid, at least not literally.

I am happy to be able to spend time with my BB friends and officers during this holiday. The Boy's Brigade in Malaysia is definitely a great place to spice up your life. This is not limited to teenagers. My officer is 30 but he still finds BB an important part of his life. It is one thing to watch the boys grow and an even greater pleasure to be able to grow with them. For the parents out there, this is a place where your child will not go astray because our anchor is in God.
