A little update

Learning two new instruments at the same time is really wearing me out. Maybe I should slow down and relax a little. The strings of the guitar are leaving red marks on my finger tips and it hurts when I press the strings. Then again, no pain no gain, I'm not backing out that easily. I hope I could complete my first piano lesson book in this two or three weeks time. As for my guitar, I plan to take it easy for the time being.

Today, our class went to visit RH Academy. There, we fussed around with the cars and the other gadgets in the workshop. It was damn boring as Rina would put it. Well, but I must say the horning part was pretty fun. We also get to squeeze into the cars and turn on the air cooler to full blast to escape the terribly hot weather. I guess that's all there is for this post.I do hope more interesting events would occur and give a little ripple to my 'life after PMR'. speaking about ripples, I made some nice ones with Jer Jong, Rina, Chloe and their gang when we escaped the group to have a little stroll by the river.

Second guitar lesson

I got my guitar today...well, the one that Jacky bought for me was way too small for me so he kept it for himself and gave me one of his old ones. And so, a second hand guitar of about700 Malaysian dollars(original price) and a brand new guitar of 400 Malaysian dollars changed owners. I feel rather comfortable with the guitar that Jacky gave me.

I learned to play Twinkle twinkle little star... and spent some time fussing over it after I got home.

Dream Big
Men first walked on he moon during the summer of 1969. When I was eight years old. I knew then that pretty much anything was possible. It was as if all of us, all over the world, had been given permission to dream big.

I was at camp that summer, and after the lunar module landed, all of us were brought to the main farm house, where a television was set up. The astronauts were taking a long time getting organized before they could climb down the ladder and walk on the lunar surface. I understood. They had a lot of gear, a lot of details to attend to. I was patient.

But the people running the camp kept looking at their watches. It was already eleven. Eventually, while smart decisions were being made on the moon, a dumb one was made here on Earth. It had gotten too late. All of us kids were sent back to our tents to go to sleep.

I was completely peeved at the camp directors. The thought in my head was this: "My species had gotten off of our planet and landed in a new world for the first time, and you people think bedtime matters?"

But when I got home a few weeks later, I learned that my dad had taken a photo of our TV set and the second Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. He preserved the moment for me, knowing it could help trigger big dreams. We still heve that photo in a scrapbook.

I understand the arguments about of how billions of dollars spent to put men on the moon could have been used to fight poverty and hunger on Earth. But, look, I'm a scientist who sees inspiration as the ultimate tool for doing good.

When you use money to fight poverty, it can be of great value, but too often, you're working at the margins. When you are putting people on the moon, you're inspiring all of us to achieve the maximum of human potential, which is how out greatest problems will eventually be solved.

Give yourself permission to dream. Fuel your kids' dreams, too. Once in a while, that might even mean letting them stay past their bedtimes.

Random bible quote

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres

Today, I went for my first guitar lesson. Jacky, my teacher, although he prefers just Jacky, was really kind. He had three dogs at home which were all very cute especially that little fluffy white ball that kept licking my feet.At first, I was like 'oh no' because I am allergic to fur but Jacky reassures me that the fur won't erm...shade... I can't think of the right word. I bought my guitar for 400 Malaysian dollar( including the casing ). Well, I will only receive it the earliest by this coming Wednesday. I learnt to pluck 8 notes( middle C to the C an octave higher). Similar to my piano, I hope to cover some ground these three months.

Bowling

Yesterday, I went for a game of bowling with my friends after piano lesson( I started learning to use the peddle). My dad drove me there and I arrived earlier than scheduled. Brian, Adrian, Chris and Daniel arrived after a few minutes and we stared a game of snooker although the notice clearly states it's for people above 18 years old. That was my first experience on the game ever. I found it quite interesting and exciting. After the others arrived, we stared our game. We played two games and I got the highest score XD.

Here is a rather interesting sight. The photograph below was taken by Jer Jong. Don't you think he has talent in this XD. *Note that this was by no means arranged

They droped the ball the same time XD

Life after PMR

Well, no more lessons for us Form 3s after PMR so we spent our time doing nothing in class for the first half section of school. I spent my time fooling around with eagle and the others and I also played with the frisbee in class. Not to mention hitting Michelle in the head accidentally and hitting Irene's purposely. After recess was a silly 'ceramah' and I decided to go 'ponteng' with the other boys. We went to the stadium for a game of football but was caught in our second game and sent back to the hall. The 'ceramah' was as boring as we had predicted. We decided not to go to school at all tomorrow.

After school, I went for my first piano lesson. Finally something meaningful. The lesson went on smoothly and I even got a praise. I hope I really could cover some ground this few months.

I spent the rest of my day in front of the computer doing nothing in particular.

Goals not daydreams

Finally, PMR is over. I want to congratulate every Form 3 students for a year's hard work.
Now that I have all my time to myself, I want to do what I always wanted to do. For the silly performance the school had prepared before hand, I don't give a damn about it. Here are the few things i want to do.

Fisrt, I want to learn to play the guitar
I got myself enrolled once I got home from school and I'm starting my lessons this Saturday morning. And I don't want to hear anyone saying that 15 is too old an age to start learning the guitar or anything similar to that.

Secondly, I want to learn to play the piano
I really do envy my sister when she plays the piano at home everyday. So, I want to go learn too XD it's as simple as that. Moreover, their is a big fat piano occupying my living room and if it stays, I want to make the most out of it.

Thirdly, I want to memorize my Drill Manual
The drill manual is basically a book of a few hundred pages containing all we need to know about drill and the basic rules and regulations in every Boys' Brigade Company in Malaysia. I just thought that memorising it will be useful to avoid being yelled at.

Fourthly, I want to have lots and lots of fun^^
and no study for...erm... as long as I dare?
